Composition
Enrofloxacin 25 mg – Excipients q.s. ad 1 ml.
Pharmacotherapeutic category
Antibacterial for systemic use (fluoroquinolones).
Properties
Enrofloxacin acts by inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase resulting in inhibition of DNA and mRNA synthesis. It has a concentration-dependent bactericidal action against Gram-negative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasmas.
Indications
For the treatment of infections caused by enrofloxacin susceptible microorganisms, such as:
- Dogs and cats: infections of the digestive, respiratory and uro-genital tract, skin and wound infections, otitis externa/media in dogs (Staphylococcus spp., E. coli, Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp., Bordetella spp., Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp.).
- Rabbits, rodents, reptiles, game birds: infections of the digestive and respiratory tract (E. coli, P. multocida. Proteus spp.,other susceptible bacteria).
Dosage, route and method of administration
OSC or IM injection: 5 mg enrofloxacin per kg BW (0.2 ml/kg BW), once daily for 5 – 10 days.
