Trimethoprim 100 mg + Sulfadia¬zine sodium eq. Sulfadiazine 500 mg per gram of powder.

Properties
The mechanism of antimicrobial action of the combination consists of inhibition of two sequential steps in the synthesis of bacterial folic acid. The combination possesses a synergistic potential that may result in a substantial reduction of dose for both components.The combination is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus vulgaris, Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococ¬cus spp., Pneumococcus spp., Salmonella spp., Actinomyces spp. and others.
Indications
For the treatment of infections caused by trimethoprim/sulfadiazine susceptible microorganisms.
Dosage, route and method of administration
Oral administration: 30 mg of trimethoprim /sulfadiazine combination per kg BW or 1 gram of Emdotrim 60% MIX powder per 20 kg BW per day, divided over two equal doses in the morning and evening for 5 days.
