Trimethoprim 16.7 mg + Sulfadia¬zine 83.3 mg per ml of oral solution.

Properties
The mechanism of antimicrobial action of the combination consists of inhibition of two sequential steps in the synthesis of bacterial folic acid. The combination possesses a synergistic potential that may result in a substantial reduction of dose for both components. The combination is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pasteurella mutocida, Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. of chickens.
Indications
For the treatment of infections caused by trimethoprim/sulfadiazine susceptible microorganisms in poultry.
Dosage, route and method of administration
Administration with the drinking water: 40 mg of trimethoprim /sulfadiazine combination per kg BW or 1 ml per 2.5 kg BW per day. This corresponds to about 300 mg of the active combination per litre of drinking water or 3 ml Emdotrim 10% SOL per litre.
